Who are we?

Robert Bosch Kft., founded in 1991, is a commercial operation involved in sales and customer service for vehicle parts, vehicle diagnostic equipment, power tools, thermotechnology equipment and security systems.
Following an expansion to the portfolio of the automatic transmission software development division, the Engineering Center Budapest (ECB) was founded in 2005 and now has more than 3200 employees, making Hungary Bosch’s largest R&D location in Europe after Germany in terms of automotive engineers. It is also one of the foremost research, development and test facilities for automotive electronics in the Bosch Group. All phases of the work are conducted in the ECB, including system and algorithm development, electrical and mechanical design, simulation, and reliability checks and tests. The Hungarian Bosch group has been one of the most attractive employers in Hungary for many years and is a strategically important location for the international company group.

CraftHub aims to make knowledge available and help tech crafters to continuously improve their skills. Today, this organization is a multifaceted IT event management company with a diverse portfolio of conferences, hackathons, developer competitions, and workshops both online and offline.

What’s our goal?

We are looking for innovative solutions that are realistic and sustainable. During the event, you’ll have to work on existing problems defined by Bosch. The challenges will be divided into different topics:

Software development
Hardware development

The exact challenges will be published on the week of the hackathon!

GAME RULES

Challenge selection deadline

  • For the challenge selection, you have to create a project in the JunctionApp in the Code #LikeABosch event, you can easily save this draft project without any completed description
  • When creating a draft project, it is enough for us if you only give a name to your project and choose the challenge you will work on so we will see how many projects will be on the different challenges

Final submission

To submit your project, please follow these steps:

  1. Create a 2 minute video pitch and upload it to YouTube (The video can have you talking, a live app demo (if you have one), some cool animation, etc... whatever fits best)
  2. Make a GitHub repo
  3. Link the YouTube video and the repo in your submission form

Please, make sure to follow these steps strictly otherwise we will not be able to evaluate your project.

As mentioned above we will have different types of winners by the end of the hackathon.

First of all, after the final submission deadline the dedicated jury members will have to evaluate the projects in the different challenges. The jury will have time for it from 2:30 pm until 4:00 pm. As soon as they went through all the projects we will announce those 8 teams at 4:00 pm that will get into the finalists.

As the second round of the evaluation, we will finish the event with the Closing ceremony which is going to start at 4:30 pm.

  • The Grand winner will be selected from the finalists. After the live pitches, the voting will open and only registered teams, mentors and jury members will be able to vote. Votes will be collected in JunctionApp by a final voting
  • Challenge winners will be also announced after the pitches, right before the Grand winner!
  • For each challenge, there will be a €3,000 prize for the winner teams chosen by the jury members as the Challenge winner of the given challenge
  • And the grand prize, €5,000 will go to the Grand winner who will be chosen from the finalists by the teams and Bosch.

ABOUT THE HYBRID FORMAT

Code #LikeABosch will mix the benefits of an online hackathon and an offline event. Hybrid format means, that participants can choose how they would like to attend the event. Anyone from around the world can join in online using Slack, but you can also choose to attend the in-person event in Budapest.

During your registration on JunctionApp you can select your preferred way of attendance. Select offline or online depending on your preference. Please note, that registering for the offline hackathon does not guarantee your participation at the event in person, because of the limited amount of space at the venue! However, even if you are not selected as a confirmed offline participant, you can still take part in the competition online. Online participation does not require a confirmation from the organizers.

If you select offline participation as your preferred way of attendance, you will get a confirmation or a denial email with all the needed information from the organizers. If you do not receive an email 2 weeks before the event, contact the organizers via Slack.

The hackathon will be organized in Budapest and the exact address will be shared with the offline participants a few weeks before the event. However please note that there won't be proper sleeping opportunities at the place (maybe some bean bags) and for refreshing, you will be only able to use the restrooms.

Although we cannot cover any of your traveling or accommodational expenses, we will hook you up with food during the hackathon, strong internet connection, comfortable tables and seats, and a lot of that infallible hackathon spirit!

For having an unforgettable experience do not forget about the most important things to bring with you to the venue, like your laptop, its charger, and some change clothes.
